On July 2, Michael Heyde joined the Austrian packaging producer Alpla as head of recycling technology. The 58-year-old specialist in recycling and the circular economy will focus on the expansion of recycling capacities. Heyde is a recognised expert in the development of new areas of application for post-consumer recycled plastics. He has extensive experience acting as an interface between the waste management industry and the packaging industry.

Poly Recycling AG in Weinfelden, the PET recycling company of the Resilux Group, intends to relocate to Bilten before the end of the year. The reason is that the current rented location will be claimed by the owner's for own use. After evaluating various scenarios, the choice fell on the location Bilten.

W. Amsler Equipment Inc., a leading supplier of all-electric linear PET stretch blow moulders, has announced plans to relocate its headquarters and manufacturing operations to Bolton, Ontario, Canada later this summer. The new location – designed to meet the expanded demands of the company’s growing PET blow moulding machine business - will be in the heart of the “Plastics Corridor,” less than 20km from the Pearson (Toronto) Airport in Rexdale. The Bolton area is also home to suppliers such as Husky Injection Molding Systems, Athena Automation, and many blow moulding companies.

With the 21st PETnology Conference, which will be held in Paris on 26-27 November, 2018, PETnology is charting new waters in connection with All4Pack, the international packaging trade fair. The decision to hold the conference in Paris underlines the event’s increased internationalisation, says the organiser.

Closure Systems International (CSI) has launched a new closure engineered for cold-filled products, such as probiotic drinks, energy drinks and carbonated soft drinks. The new Pro-Lok GL 38mm closure is claimed to provide bottlers with exceptional closure performance, enhanced safety features, consumer satisfaction and total system support.

Two new members will join Alpla’s board of management from 1 July: Klaus Allgäuer will become the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), while Walter Ritzer will become Chief Operations Officer (COO). Until now, the Alpla board consisted of CEO Günther Lehner, CCO Nicolas Lehner and CFO Georg Früh. Now, Klaus Allgäuer is joining the management team as CTO with Walter Ritzer joining as COO. "With these changes, we are taking proactive steps with regard to the generational shift at the top level of the company. We are also establishing an appropriate management and organisational structure in order to remain well positioned in the highly dynamic market in the future and ensure the growth of our company," explains CEO Günther Lehner.
